Artist Statement
As you drive into downtown Houston from the north, train tracks cross over I-45. On the side of the steel support beam used to be graffitied the phrase "Be Someone". This simple phrase was the basis for the design of the quilt. Words and images that define Houston were utilized to showcase some of the best Houston has to offer, emphasizing how individuals chose to "Be Someone" and create the great city known as Houston.
